Abstract - Digital Resilience: Conceptualization, Measurement, and Configurational Perspective
Digital resilience refers to the ability of users to shield against and recover from adversity in the IT work environment, which is conceptualized as comprising two dimensions: shielding and recovery. The research talk covers findings from three studies that provide a comprehensive understanding of digital resilience. The first study involved the development and validation of measures for digital resilience, which were confirmed through initial tests. The second study used interviews to identify personal and environmental factors that contribute to digital resilience, including conscientiousness, IT mindfulness, IT self-efficacy, trust in IT, and forbearance. Finally, the third study employed fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis to identify configurations of factors that contribute to shielding and recovery. Overall, the studies highlight the importance of digital resilience as a unique concept, offer an empirically validated scale to measure digital resilience, provide a theory of digital resilience, and identify multiple configurations of factors contributing to shielding and recovery. The findings suggest future research opportunities for creating resilient sociotechnical systems.

Stauffer Professorship in the Department of Management Information Systems at the Fox School of Business of Temple University and is Gambrinus Fellow at TU Dortmund University. His research interests include individual decision-making, strategic alignment and IT workforce issues. According to AISResearchRankings.org, he was ranked the most productive author on the AIS Senior Scholars list in 2014, 2020, and 2021 as well as the most productive scholar in Information Systems between 2018 and 2021. Since earning his Ph.D. in 2002, some rankings place Jason as the 10th most productive scholar out of 9,000+ active researchers in his discipline. According to GoogleScholar, his work has been cited more than 12000+ times. His work has appeared in journals such as MISQ, ISR, Journal of Applied Psychology and Harvard Business Review. He serves as Senior Editor at the Information Systems Research (ISR) Journal and as Senior Editor at the Journal of the Association for Information Systems. He has served as President of the Association for Information Systems (AIS) and as Senior Editor at the MIS Quarterly.
